A-GIRL! WORLD

Adventures of A-Girl! 6

1st in the unfinished storyline, DYNAMO-TOPIA, where A-Girl goes to work. Her work place?  TOOOOOOON FACTORY.  The production?  ROCKET RODENT.  This was a story following a-Girl during a week on animation production.  Begun in ‘98.  Self published small press Zine, 1st printing 100 books (or was that 300?  I can’t remember how high the demand became, I was constantly reprinting the earlier stuff).  Was supposed to go to 2nd printing, but not sure if that happened (things got weird in ‘98).

I found the original art pages and decided to scan them at grayscale so you can see the marker texture, paste up (yes, that’s scotch tape), and the white out, if any.  A-Girl was the only comic that I would put down first as a very ruff marker drawing.  Not really in pencil, I wanted the spirit of any original marks made.  Using a light table, I then did a Clean version, also in marker (using the regular tip end of the TOMBO Dual Brush Pen, black.  The brush end was used to put in blacks).  If I didn’t like a page composition or how I drew something, I re-drew on another piece of paper and cut it in (hence the pasting).

Since A-Girl was done with the Tombo marker, my white out was plain ‘liquid paper’.  That’s something I would never use with natural black ink (white out fluid like Liquid Paper ages into a yellow and doesn’t react kindly to other formulated inks, over time).

BTW, the kind of animation production A-Girl is on would be called ‘traditional 2D animation’ today.  A dying craft.

Or ‘niche craft’ if you will. ;)

ENJOY,

~~~eee!
