(hey kids, notice the funky page dimensions for the 'Mortality' story? That was because it was my first full sized comic page and I got the size wrong! wacky!!)
(Note 2: the cover idea was an 'Archie' style theme, drawn and inked by me and colored by Sarah, and yes that's Sarah with the speak balloon and I'm the chick on the floor cutting up the priceless superhero comic.)

Wow, what a trip back in time. This was my first ever attempt at making pages for an actual 'pro' publication, and not realizing whether I'd have a further chance, I put everything of what I wanted to see in a comics story, into this, at that time. Two girl heroes having a meaningful, yet everyday-like conversation. Hm. I could say alot about it....

(The cover for this issue was a wonderful collaboration between me and Sarah--I drew and inked the characters, Sarah had the art shot on acetate and hand painted the acetate animation cel style--meaning backwards. The background is a for real swatch of fabric. All hand done, no processed computer tones here!)

ACTION GIRL COMICS #6
-2nd FLYING GIRL appearance
-story, 'Morning'
- synopsis: Ginnie's appreciation of morning is interrupted by a boy's attempt to end his life.

With this story, I leapt at the chance to finally do something in full shoujo style--all the zipatone was laid in by hand and painted over with ink and white cel paint. I had to get the pages shot by camera, they couldn't be scanned. I worked on these pages while listening to Morrissey's 'Speedway'. God, I love doing stuff by hand, the pages look great.

(Another story with zipatone laid in by hand--oh, and hand lettered too, by Mr. S. Kongsle!)

ACTION GIRL COMICS #8
-3rd FLYING GIRL appearance
-story, 'PROTECTOR'
-synopsis: Ginnie and Erica experience the darker dangers of doing good.

Now in looking back at this story, I remember thinking I didn't quite pull it off, and I still don't think I did, but it still looks decent. ;) I love the outfit I gave Ginnie. I also love the little old lady character, she's a singin' one of my favorite olda tunas. :) I feel like this story was meant to lead into another one, but I bet I didn't leave notes, so if there was a character development arc intended, it's been lost.

ACTION GIRL COMICS #12
